after seeing the response to my black and white pic of the tiger I went in and did some more and I was disappointed with some as at certain angles the just ends and it looks artificial

So gave it some thought , first I printed off some pics of the wall section stuck them on card and placed it in the hope of extending it but they didn't match up , scale was out

Then I had an epiphany

Use a mirror , first pick is without the mirror second with the mirror

So what do you think

Very clever Alan, so often I see great models spoilt for the lack of a bit of thought to the background. It makes a world of difference to the finished piece.

Some modellers spend weeks/months creating their dioramas, then don't bother, or forget, to try and show their work off at it's best, i.e. with at least 'something' behind the model that would be of benefit.

I remember once on here a superb model photographed on a table with a pair of legs in pink slippers in the background!

Your's is spot on, and what a difference it makes too. Really well though out.

Cheers Ron , I'm surprised it turned out so well lol , I try to at least get a plain background so you can just see the dio

Surprised? I'm not....

Quite right about just a plain background. That works well and, as you point out, focuses on the model. Anything is better than seeing someone's front room - or worse!

Talking a bout a front room, a few weeks ago I saw a great dio set in Vietnam, thing was in corner was a mirror and in that mirror was a dog licking itself

Excellent photograph, Alan.
I like how it looks!!
Personally I love this lower angle you used....looks more real, seems the shoot has been taken by another soldier quite far.

Nice processing as well. You used the Lightroom program?

I'm a being a bit dense today, and while I think the second pic is better, what's all this about a mirror? Surely the second pic could be taken closer up, from a different camera position, and cropped. Also a reflection in a mirror is always flipped left to right!

Here is a pic without the mirror at the same angle IMG_5561.JPGnow here is a pic with the mirror
IMG_5560.JPG And here is the pic cropped so you can't see the back of the tiger but you get a continuation of the buildings IMG_5562.JPGas you can see Steve you get a look that appears as if the tank is in a long street

Ah! I thought the mirror was being used to actually make the image. Cropping images as you have makes most pictures better. And as Spanner posted, many models are spoilt by a distracting and irrelevant background.

Very good and convincing model.
