Hi everyone, yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting the Texel Airshow at Texel International airport.:smiling:

This show caught my eye as it was mentioned as one of the last public shows of the PBY-5A Catalina from Lelystad airport, which has to be sold off due to a change in regulations and the resulting loss of funds to keep her in the air.:crying:
Sadly she couldn't make it after losing an engine last week, hope she finds a new home soon where she can entertain the crowds once again.

But even without the Catalina there were plenty of other great war-birds and modern ones to see:nerd:, so here is a selection of the photo's I took:

Para's opening the show, since the airport is the home of a well established para-club:

Too bad the low clouds hampered these guys, first forcing they to do the low show and cutting it short altogether:

A ceiling of 250meter or so didn't stop him:smiling5::

Later it cleared enough for the Mustang to do his tricks:

At the end the ceiling was too low for the Royal Jordanian Falcons, so their act was cancelled ending the show short.
But that's the weather, you never know how the day will end even if you start with lots of sun.:upside:

Enjoy the photo's.

Fernando.
Thanks for taking the time to post, great photography by the way.
A really nice mix of planes, as you say a pity the weather put an early end to the show.
John.

I thought that was a joke, but TIL it really does have that English name …

Too bad it’s on the other side of the country, I wouldn’t mind seeing some of those aircraft in the flesh.

Jakko(and other dutchies too), if your Saturday the 24th is still open, the NMM in Soesterberg is having a flight event with some of their aircraft from the depots on show too.:nerd:
Oh and next year the Luchtmachtdagen are back in Volkel, always a great selection of planes on the tarmac and in the air to see.:hungry:

That’s almost as far as Texel, though at least without the need to take a ferry :smiling3:

great photos Fernando and looks like a good show--very jealous as here in Northern Ireland we only get air displays with few opportunities to see the aircraft on the ground---one fairly regular visitor though was the Catalina and I have seen her on the ground on the water and over my house a few times as she visited her old base at Castle Archdale in Co Fermanagh--a majestic sight when taking off from the lake surface!! would love to have seen the Polish MI-8 as I have a couple in the stash waiting for some attention! cheers Marty----keep posting those pics:thumb2:
