The Pick Up

Deep in the Iraqi Desert a British Patrol request an exfil after a long patrol. A coalition MH-60 is dispatched to retrieve them.

I decided to do this as a dio while building the MH-60. The insides of the cabin had a bit of scratch building added as there was no seats in the gunners positions. The main gears struts would also have been visible inside so I covered them using air dry clay. The seats were made out of styrene rod and foil.

The outside of the chopper also had a small amount of work added around the main and tail rotors. I wanted to have this chopper looking like it had been in theatre for some time hence the weathering and chipping.

The two USAF figures were taken from an Hazegawa ground crew kit and the British military ones are Airfix. Those who have followed the build thread for this dio will have seen my grumble about these figures. The lack of possible poses inhibited what was achievable.

The base is just an old picture frame with some sand borrowed (on a permanent basis) from the grand kids sand pit.

I think that's really good Terry! Your MH-60 is a high quality build with lovely little details. I do like dios that capture a sense of movement & this one really shows that sense of urgency.
