Here is the finished Mill diorama. I'm glad Alan used the Pak40 kit I had thought to use because I had to re-think and came up with this simple scene.......I took 60 odd pictures, so I've condensed them to 33 and to save your sanity, I'll present them in two batches!......

It's summer 1940. France has fallen to the German Jackboot, and a relative calm has fallen over the country. In a quiet rural backwater checkpoint, the war seems far, far away.

The field telephone rings....."Is Leutnant Siegel there?"

Another masterclass in scratchbuilding Ron! Not only your building skills, but your talent for producing simple yet effective stories.

I know you use household varnish for your water effect, but how do you get the rippled surface? Not the waterfall bits, but where the water is calm. I could leave brush marks in water, but I bet I'd end up with a mirror smooth finish if I tried simply brushing varnish.

Magnificent master piece Ron ;)

I specially like to observe the perspective and "depth" you have obtained in this diorama.

Is a great build :smiling3:

That is beautiful. Thats about all I can think of adding to the previous posts.

If you don't show that at a show or two... I am sure that it will very well received/rewarded.

I know you only do it for fun, but thats a winner if ever there was one.

Excellent work Ron.

I agree with Ian, that's a beautiful job! It looks so damn realistic, you could put those pictures on a travel website & be flooded with requests to stay there!

You're a genius Ron!

If I hadn't watched this build I would have never believed what it was made from. This is not just a stunning lesson in scratch modelling from household bits and pieces but it is also a lesson in composition and sheer imagination.

Then the absolute master stroke, a couple of figures. Even then you take them to a complete new level by cutting one in half and sticking him in the water.

When you think of all the available kits there are nowadays with aftermarket PE, resin, white metal and plastic a model such as this is still the one to blow us away.

Breathtaking.
