Operation Supermarine Walrus

The beautiful Walrus. A Supermarine Aircraft designed by that magician R G. Mitchell of Spitfire success.

A 1/72 Revell. So here goes after a Merlin this is like being let of the lead.

Should have mentioned on the pictures. Placed the Dymo tapes next to the raised lines and they more or less disappeared with the scribing.

Thank to you both.

Not sure if it is an original Revell or Matchbox Dave. One thing the plastic is superb and so far the wings the gone together perfectly. Apart from a wet and dry with 1500 grit they need no more. No filling. Same with the floats absolutely spot on.

Errr no Patrick. Suspended from my shelf above all the other 1/72. Saves room.

Lol. The spitfire was the exact opposite of the walrus. The spitfire was landbased-the walrus a flying boat. The Spitfire was all for looks- the walrus-well, it's name tells it all. BTW, that is an interesting subject, will be following this one

Wow! Organised or what! Very impressive, and an example to us all. Do please elaborate on that bird grit sanding. Also interested in the use of ultrasonic cleaner - I have one of those, due to an obsession with clean glasses!

Yes organised John. My outlook has always been tidy and you fit more into life or waste time searching for what you are after. Also the less like things in life do them first and enjoy much better the ones you like to do. Also running my own business multi tasking was essential as was orgnaisation.

Yes an erst.while member of this Forum taught me that one. Grit-Colin (go on guess his name) is just bird grit bought from the pet shop. Put it into a container, place the plastic bits in, shake it all about manually or on a dentists vibrator and the bits lose that shine and give a great finish for primer. I still wet and dry wings fuselage etc. but for small items especially ones it is impossible to sand this gives an excellent solution. Yu have to wash the bits thoroughly to get rid of the fine dust clinging to the plastic.

PS John. If you use, as I do , the sound cleaner for specs. and also after using GritColin make sure you get the grit out of the Sound Cleaner.

Not easy to see through frosted specs. !

Hah! You learn something new every day. I shall also be watching this with great interest. It looks a lot better than the Revell 1/32 P51 I'm struggling with here - what a rubbish set of mouldings I have in front of me - but thats another story...
