Here are my last three builds. All Mosquito's in 1/48 scale. The Black one is a mk2 night fighter by Monogram and originally moulded in 1966.The bomber is a mk4 built from the superb Tamiya kit.And the dark green/medium sea grey one is a mk6 fighter bomber from the old Airfix kit.The Monogram shows its age with oversized spinners and fin and simplified undercarriage. But look at the engraved flying control and panel lines.Must have been something special when it first came out.Unsurprisingly, the Tamiya kit is the most detailed and was the nicest to build.image.jpg

And a great trio they are Dave.

So which one was your fav.?

Was this a warm up to building the big one, or do you never want to see another mossie for a few months...

I want to do the Airfix mk16 next. And after handling the Sprues of the HK Models 1/32 kit at Telford I'm very tempted to get one.

The Black on the night fighter is Revell enamel no.9 'Anthracite'.Its not too black if you know what I mean.Revell no.6 'Tar Black' is the one I used on the bomber.

Great to see this trio of Mozzies together Dave. You've a real soft spot for the 'wooden wonder' haven't you?

They look terrific.

I'd like to do a diorama with one of them but I've not one one before. Not being artistic I don't know how to start really.Ive got some Revell 1/48 RAF personnel though

Dioramas are not my thing either Dave. But at the same time I wanted the aircraft to look natural

I just lined a shelf with the grass which comes in rolls stuck to brown paper. Also a roll of grit paper used by railway model makers for a partial runway. This made into an section of airfiield on the shelf.

I stuck to a board a background picture and planted that along the back of the shelf. Nicked some stones from the seashore and bought some cheap greenery which comes in bags on Amazon. No artistic bits in it just all straight forward and simple. My outlook i want the aircraft to look natural but not be overwhelmed by a diorama. I leave that to Si ;) I think the mossies would look really well and enhance their looks.

http://www.scale-models.co.uk/community/threads/merlin-1-48-helicopter-afganistan-mode.29072/ This gives an idea of the above.
