After putting it to the vote here is the winner of the poll and my entry for the under a tenner GB. I got this kit at the Newark show as part of a 4 for a tenner deal from Kits4cash (a regular dealer at this and many other shows) Its a reasonably moulded little kit , not much interior detail ,in a strange blue grey plastic with a rather grainy surface texture. At least it has recessed lines so if it proves to be a filler queen then reinstating them shouldnt be too hard. The camo is quite nice being 3 shades of blue grey although i think matching them is going to be very approximate as half the Humbrol colours it gives on the sheet dont exist anymore!!Heres some sprue shots , cheers tony

That looks pretty good - not too much flash or mould seams - but is the surface really as rough as it looks on the pictures?

Finally made a start on this one , as usual the cockpit is the first to be addressed. The kit cockpit is very simplified , with no sidewall detail and nothing for the instruments . I'm not going to go too mad adding extra detail as its having a closed canopy and it isnt exactly crystal clear , but ive got to add a bit .After searching online i found a few pics of the cockpit so made some sidewalls from plastic card and a bulkhead for the rear of the cockpit. The side consoles have had some random dial detail added ,as have the instrument panels , not exactly right but near enough . The actual seats are a slight variation of the KK1 as used in the mig 17 so I know what they look like , and the kit seats are nothing like. I had to cut off the bogus headrest , add a new one and fabricate the foot rests , once theyre painted and some belts added (which should also help to hide the big sink mark in the cushion!!) they should give a passing resemblance . heres a few pics , tony

Super start Tony, that's looking great. You could almost write a book about Soviet cockpits!

You are the man when it comes to scratchbuilding tiny details Tony!

Just a few bits (that I couldn't manage!) & it's made a heck of an improvement :smiling3:

And again many are amazed at what Tony can squeeze into a small space.

Back again , the snow and cold weather in general have slowed the build dramatically . Heres where im at - Ive added belts to the seats and the u shaped frame above the head rest . This is peculiar to the Polish version of the KK1 and was made from fuse wire. After adding some lead to the nose , the fuselage has been glued and the wings are currently being fettled for fitting , pics of this later. heres the finished pit cheers tony

Bit more done on this one today but no pics till tomorrow . Ive got the fuselage together and the wings on plus the canopies. There are a lot of places that require substantial filler including all round the not very clear canopy. Another place thats going to need some work is the intake ducts , these are made from two parts each side that plant onto the underside of the wing and also form the undercarriage bays , but the fit is very approximate ! Hopefully I can get some pics tomorrow , cheers tony

Good to know someone else is taking their time with the under a tenner build. I stalled, work and commitments got in the way again. Look forward to seeing the PZL progress Tony
