Getting trench together, made dugout, coming along.....will also build fire step on 'front side' of trench........plenty of sand bags to be made to run a few layers on top of trench and dug out. Tanks will be coming through wire entanglements dragging wire and posts along, nasty business :eek:View attachment 113062

which way do you do your ones ?

i use clay and just roll it out to about 10mm,then cut them about 15mm long

flatten them down, and just with a cocktail stick draw aline around them,

and nip in the ends ;)

That's almost exactly how I make mine only with "Playdough" made for kids, non toxic, potato and fiber based so they dry out and harden nicely after a while. :smiling3:

Just got figures in mail, nice detail but some flash and seams but I'll clean them up, a bit of a delay in progress as other things pop up but want to keep a steady pace, more pics coming soon;)

Now, now Barry, you know they will be painted as close as possible to the real thing. not even near applying any color yet, a few more structural things to go . Then working the "ground" with miniaturized debris of war etc... then all gets a brownish black wash, then dry brush colors in, gives depth and color, definitely not something to rush. Barbed wire and figures go in last.....Jim;)

Some great scratch work going on Jim. Excellent stuff......

I know there's plenty still to do and it's early days, but keep in mind (Which I'm sure you are) after a preliminary allied artillery bombardment, tank fire and the odd grenade or two, there wouldn't be much left of the trench and a large amount of the sandbags would be burst and scattered to hell and all....along with the wire, timber and mud.

Looking good.

Thanks Ron like you say "early days" much still to do. Debris will be wide spread but keep in mind once tanks started to be used with some regularity, they found that "over shelling" an area only made it much harder for the tanks to traverse severely broken ground with most ending up bogged in shell holes etc... Plus the element of surprise was lost with big bombardments, hence many trenches were taken virtually intact with much stores and weapons captured after panicking Germans fled for the most part............Jim;)

Thanks Monica, but don't worry I'll rough things up a bit before all is said and done. Still in very early stages, maybe I'll do some grenade damage to the trench here or there, some busted sand bags and timber damage, also will try to scratch up some ammo boxes, tools, tarps and the like. In no rush, just taking my time about it. Will search the scrap boxes and put together a few "unfortunate ones" you know me, some just don't get out alive:eek:...........Jim;)
