Peter, if it's any help, when I brush painted the dazzle on my Belfast, I used a 2b pencil to mark the lines. Using a pencil ensures the lines are obliterated by the paint....use anything else and the lines will be seen no matter what paint you use. Also try and paint the 'bands' in one go....It's bl***y difficult, if nigh on impossible, to do a second without it showing over the first.

Good luck, just take your time.

There was a programme on the telly recently that explained that the dazzle didn't just make the vessel blend into the background (which is presumably what conventional camo does) but it confuses the low-level view of a submarine into not knowing the direction or speed of the target nor its heading, nor its size given that the sub can't be sure of the distance. The images in the programme were certainly confusing.

The only drawback to this scheme was the smoke generated by the engines, that is one thing that could not be disguised-the direction of smoke meant the vessel had to going that way.
