Well thanks to "John I am" swapping me this for my 1:48th FW Condor, I can now add to my Star Lord build :smiling3:

This is a nice 1:9th scale kit with lots of nicely moulded sections. I've not done large areas of fur before so any hints and tips most welcome.

This box shot shows the gun I've already started, almost 3D :smiling3:

I've almost finished the gun now, I won't be adding any washes that I know people will ask for, the reason is if you see the film there is no dirt on the gun, so it's been painted with Mr Metal Colors, Steel and Gold and dry brushed with the same make Aluminium.

I think I'm going to do the suit as shown at the end of the film so that will be blue rather than orange, just in-case I happen across another build on my travels :smiling3:

Comments welcomed as always.

Adrian mate...what an awesome kit of "Subject 89P13" aka Rocket Raccoon. I have a question, do the instructions call the weapon the ion cannon or laser cannon?

The weapon looks amazing...beautiful work mate.

They don't actually call it anything, just part numbers lol, the entire instructions are on one small A5 sheet

The reason I asked was because the ion cannon was rockets favorite and we'll used weapon which he had to sell, replacing it with a new laser cannon for the end of the movie. Sorry to nerd out, just thought it might be interesting.

Just watched the film back and can see I need to alter the main stock colour as its a more redish brown in the scene where Rocket tries to capture Peter. I'll try a red wash and see how it turns out :smiling3:

this is cool, ;) :D

you have beaten me to it,still saving penny's lol,

do like the gun color looks great, well done, :D

well if this is of any help for you, when I,paint fur,/hair,I use a flat brush, about 10 or 15mm W,and cut into

it making it an uneven edge,

kind of a little hardish, but not over hard, then one that is a bit softer ,than that, cut the same way,

start with base coat being the darkest, then with your cut brushes ,start with you main color, and so on,

then once done use the softer brush to do the middle tones in the fur,but never to hard or too much paint on the brush,

then for the middle lite to high lite ,brush across the fur, with little paint more like a dry brush, and pickup the very higtest

points, ;)

hope this is some help and you under stand what I ,do mean

I would like to get Thorin Oakenshield,

but you have a good place to get the Dragon kits from or just evilbay ?

I'm lucky enough to have a wide selection of all the brown and light tones from my dabble in Citadel figures a year or so ago, another reason I choose his blue outfit as I have all those as well :smiling3:
