Hi Samer and welcome the forum........ Ammo Mig paints are good. Particularly some of their effects paints like rust streaking and dust effect....... Do you use brushes or an airbrush? Either way Vallejo acrylic would be a good choice. They brush well and Vallejo Model Air works well in airbrush and brush paints superbly. They have a large range of colours and easy clean up....... and there are no nasty fumes like you will get with Tamiya or Enamels.

Hi Samer and welcome I mainly use tamiya acrylics in an airbrush I don't think the paint very well with a paint brush but they do airbrush very well and dry very quickly Vallejo do brush very well and airbrush well maybe that would be better for you as for which colours that depends on what you are building and what era ie ww2 modern armour or civil vehicles etc if you are building kits like tamiya then the instructions will give you a list of all the colours you will need in the tamiya range all the best

I would go with Rogers advice Samer........ Rather than buying colour sets. Just buy the colours you need for the model you are building........ If you are waiting on a kit and want to have your paints ready for when it turns up..... let us know what kit you are building I'm sure we can come up with a paint list for you.

atm i am building T-90 MBT

the problem is i cant afford buying paints when ever i need duo to high rate shipping to iraq

so i want to get as much as i can from paints/paint sets so i can build more kits without getting worried about paints.

i did order good airbrush , sanding sticks / sponges , masking tape , filler,

so paints and effects are missing . and i was saving for this for the hole last year trying to make my station perfect and good to start more projects.

Hi Samer firstly welcome to the friendliest forum on the net, I can't help you with choice of paints for tanks or aircraft (not something I do much of) but mig do some really great weathering products and of course if you were to use enamel paints one of the best weathering products is free (the bottle you clean your brushes out in)(the sludge in the bottom is great, I use it all the time)

Vallejo paints are water based Samer

Check out their website for the colour sets.

On choice of paint colours, this is usually given by the model you are building. For example, World War II British aeroplanes had a particular light colour for the undersides of Spitfires and a black with a very little blue for the underside of Lancaster bombers. Both had particular brown and a green camouflage colours for the upper side. These were specified by the British Air Ministry and if you want to make models of these you need to find out which paint numbers from a supplier's range are correct. Their paint charts help:

http://www.acrylicosvallejo.com/en_US/model-air/family/17

but other people on this forum can help. The same applies to tanks whether British, USA, German, Russian etc. Some paint suppliers offer sets of, for example, British Royal Air Force camouflage colours. A tank for World War II in Europe will have different camouflage colours (green and brown) from one in the North African desert where sand-coloured paint would be used. The shapes of various camouflage patterns was also specified. For example, every Spitfire had the same pattern (or I think only two) and the same for a Lancaster. Some research is needed.

If you are building a model tank, I suggest you get the colours needed for that model. This will reduce your costs. A tank often has three colours: a base colour and two camouflage colours. You could then go further when the model is built and painted by getting two or three weathering colours to make the tank dirty (as they always were).

If you go for Vallejo paints (which are water-based), they have two main types: Model Color and Model Air. Only Model Air is suitable for airbrushing, because mainly the pigments are more finely ground. Model Color is more suited to brush work, giving a denser (heavier) colour. It seems best to use the thinner made by the company that makes the paint.

Iraq is still an unhappy country and it is good that you can relax with modelling.
