Think i need to take a few days away from modelling :-(

After my beautiful Ducati being used as my dogs new chew toy I took a few days off from modelling as I was not in the right frame of mind and I realised last night that I'm still not :sad: . Over the weekend I stuck a brand new scalpel in my finger at least a quarter inch deep! I managed to spill yet another pot of nail glue and stuck my fingers together! Last night whilst priming I realised that a sprue which had the seats, air filter and fire wall was missing from the box so in my usual chilled way I went mental, threw the lot back in the box and put it out for recycling. When I got up this morning I found the sprue on top of my fishing box (I always keep all parts together so have no idea what must have been going through my mind), Went to get the box out of the recycling and yes it had peed it down last night and some of the priming was still wet when I threw it out. I have decided to walk away from it for a few days now but have no idea what I'm going to get up to :sad: :oops:

Damn Mark, you need a break STAT!


We all go through this, your tale is nothing new, if you searched this forum you will find countless stories of pain and misery caused by the wretched plastic.


As Polux says, have a few days off, it sounds hard as you can feel that the 'If I do just do a bit' it will be okay, fatal-just leave it for a few days and you will feel so much better.

A break is a good idea after one of those weekends!

To be fair, you had a whole load of different rocks thrown at you at once, so no wonder you got, er... annoyed. Time will heal, along with a glass of something, chocolate, cake.

As much as I love to walk in the rain, there comes a time when you need to stay indoors. Your modelling has been throwing all the wrong vibes so yeah, take a break, sit out the storm and when the sun comes out, get back to the bench with a quick simple build. Leave the fiddly stuff until you have a fun build under your belt then start getting a bit more technical.


You may have lost the battle but you haven't lost the war.

Just take it easy and when your relaxed and ready to restart we will all still be here to take the ,,,, ;)


We should have a check list,,, scalpel in fingers,,, check


Spilt glue,,, check


missing parts,,,, check


pet eating parts,,,,, damn not yet, though my cat likes to chew on the sprues

When ever I get it wrong ( there has been times ) I just clear the bench and really give everything a good ol tidy..... That done its mid week and then I'll read a book/ research / play a game of two on the Xbox .


Watch a classic war film/ thriller etc then go back to the bench clear head and start again slow and purposeful


If it went in bin I'll rescue but start something else a new


This is my get better remedy

I took a break after my lovely 95% complete Zero Prototype had its tail go missing and someone dropped it and put it back on the shelf missing half its bits. I did throw a total wobbly though as it took hours of work. I still have't quite got back into it but I have had a lot of other things on the go so no worries. Like me, time will get your head round it. Maybe just try to take a step back as you work and think about how you could work smarter or cleaner, I tend to have far too much on the table at one time and things go walkies or paint has been spilled. I'm sure it has happened to most!

I'm back :rolleyes:, had a good tidy up, sorted through all my gear and binned what I never use, watched loads of movies on sky go and today I finally got out the model I was working on and fingers crossed I'm really enjoying it. One thing I have realised though is just how badly made some of the Revell models really are :mad:

I find that a good tidy up and, in my case I don't say you should do this, throw away anything that is nagging at my conscience like part built kits that I have to admit I will never finish. As modellers, most of us, but not all, will work in a fair degree of clutter. A good tidy up clears not only the bench but the mind as well allowing a new vigour and positive attitude.

Had that. Mine was just finished a farrari i had wanted to build for a long time just gluing the wing mirrors on and the cat jumped up on the table the glue went all down the side of the car body and i went t.ts the cat vanished when i smashed my fist on to the car bits flying everewhere ,i scooped everthing up and threw it in the wheely bin.


after i calmed down a couple of hours ( dont know where the cat went) i thought you prat i could just buy another kit spray the body and use all the finished parts that wernt damaged which was most of them so back out to the bin luckily it was the bin you put cardboard and bottles in so it wasnt messy ,tiped it out and got back most of the parts.


i still have not got another body but i got the parts.:rolleyes:.
