Welcome to the Russian SU-GB, this GB was started because one or two people had bought SU vehicles and Patrick suggested that the two of us, build them simultaneously......hence this GB:D

The GB is for all scales of Russian SU armoured vehicles in any scale and in any nationality(captured service) and anybody wishing to enter as many kits as they wish to build, is fine.

After market goodies are OK;) all that is asked is that members of this GB show photographic updates of their builds;)

The GB will start on the 1st of August and will run until the 31st of January

So far the list of members that have joined the GB are

Patrick

Ron

Monica

Paul(possible)

Dave

Scott

John

Myself

Please feel free to join in, and a big welcome to all of those who have joined this GB:smiling3:

Tommy, a quick question, if I may.

It has been sort of suggested that armour G.B.'s such as this should be a stand alone final presentation, and not on a base/small diorama.

Can you clarify this minor point please?

Cheers,
Ron

Are you referring to my post in Monica's build in the Tiger B GB Ron?

Hi Ron good question, I think personally, I will leave it up to the builder on how they want to present their finished build.

Base, stand alone, small vinaigrette, dio scene, as long as it involves the SU, that is fine by me;)

My personal view is build the model as a stand alone item. If you wish to put it in a diorama, that can always come afterwards. (then you get to do two build threads).
From an admin point of view: As the completed model should be presented in the completed build section for the type of model it is, the tanks in the armour section cars in the cars section and diorama in the diorama section. So when a kit is finished in the GB build thread it should end up in the completed armour thread. When that tank gets put into a diorama...... It will end up in the completed diorama section.
Do not miss interpret this as me saying how you should work or build your model. I am just saying that if you build the item as per the subject title and place it in a diorama it will end up in the diorama section.

That's exactly my point & what I was saying on Monica's Tiger. Obviously some builds will naturally lend themselves to having a scenic base or diorama.

I would like to propose that there are at least 8 photos of the vehicle that's been built without any base. And for the benefit of those who generally access the forum on their phone, put them in as full images, not thumbnails!

As Paul has picked the JSU-152, I checked my stash list (yes, I've created a spreadsheet for my stash!) and remembered I bought the Dragon box of the 1/35 Alan Su-76 at Cosford this year.

I've just spent two hours in my spare room looking for it. Have any of you guys broken in and nicked it for this GB, 'cos I'm b******d if I can find it!?

I find! I had it stacked sideways on a shelf. I have a kit of the BA-20 armoured car, and I think it's very confusing of Dragon to advertise different kits on the side of their boxes!!

Having looked at this one though, I think I'll probably stick with my original choice. Lots of flash and some mis-moulded parts mean this would need lots of work. There are other kits I want to build without spending lots of time on this one.

Here's mine. Two in a box. Depending on the final 'Rules' for this build, I'm hopefully going to model them trundling down a wrecked East German village street.

Cheers.
