I have a collection of odds and sods and quite a lot of PE which normally comes in useful one way or the other.

I used to just cut the parts from the sprue and store them in a plastic container but moved on to a labeled zip-lock bag now for easier searching ea. kit and scale written on them.
Decals are in a shoebox and a mounting pile of pe frets are still loose in a drawer, have to organize those one of these days...:rolling:
Hope you find a system which works for you Pete.

Some good ideas there, thanks folks. At the moment I just put all the unused parts back in the box, but I'm thinking that if I empty those boxes I can hide them away in the attic (or even the recycling bin) then I can sneak some new boxes into the stash without Management noticing...

I also have a large Jiffy bag full of decals and PE that I was given. I really need to sort those into separate envelopes.

Most of my modelling has now shifted to RC tanks etc so spare parts from new 1/72 etc kits are now non existent. I do however, still have a drawer full of bits and spares from when I did makes these kits. Some of them went into kitbashing (see pics of a sci-fi ship, made for a story concept), these are dotted with various 1/72 tank spares, Star Wars, Star Trek etc, the main body of the model is the body of an old Bizel cleaner...you never know when bits might just come in handy.

Shoved in boxes all over the place. I always said I would sit down and categorize them all but I never have the time. Like Scottie I have a large box of PE spares which is invaluable

Some people are so very organised.

I have just two old boxes
One, a big one, full of spare parts that I remove from the sprues after I have finished a build. It includes parts of kits that I built back in the 70's.....
The other is where I place left over decals, masks, p.e. and oher misc parts.

At least one of the boxes gets rummaged through for every build.....

That’s pretty much how my collection of boxes of parts started as well,* but after a while it began to get so full that I needed to sort the parts better in order to find anything at all among them. Thus, separate boxes for wheels/tracks and subjects I’ve built a lot of and so have a lot of spares for, like M113s.

* That’s not entirely true. It began with one of those sets of little plastic drawers into which I sorted leftover parts, but by the time I was building models seriously I soon ended up with a proper parts box instead.
