More progress. At first the wings went on fairly well though a fair bit of filling was on the cards. Then I noticed that the fuselage was warped and twisted (a bit like me really). Of course, in the process of gently coaxing the fuselage into its proper shape :karate1:, I managed to break the wings off again. And then it all went horribly wrong...

After a cooling off period, I managed to patch up the damage:-

Bravo mate!!!:gent:

Just goes to show there isn't any problem that can't be overcome with a bit of effort and a fair bit of know-how!

This really is coming together now, keep up the great work I'm sure this is going to turn out a cracker (and just in time for xmas!)

All the best

Whilst waiting for the primer to harden, I thought it was time to look at the guns:-

which are not particularly well detailed, horribly fiddly and KEEP BREAKING!!!!

Definitely time for some paint:-

Well, here we are again. I normally look forward to adding the decals, but not this time. I've never used anything quite like them - they are not thick but very stiff and cling tightly wherever they are put unless plenty of water is used. This would be fine except that they do not want to conform at all. The roundels on the fuselage side were especially bad, there is a double curve here and they just would not lie down. So it was out with the decal solvents and ... they exploded!

I thought about touching them up, but they were too far gone and, besides, the white is far from opaque. Five minutes with some sellotape removed the evidence. I don't suppose anyone has a couple of this type of roundel going spare? Otherwise it's a (virtual) trip to Hannants for me.

Happy New Year

That's a damned shame but at least you've managed to remove the damaged decals well.

I don't really model 1/72 so don't have any spare decals (especially the early type large roundels) but I'd certainly donate them if I could.

You've done a marvelous job on this incomplete kit so far and I'm really looking forward to the finished thing.

All the best

Paul

Hi andy ive been watching this thread from the start and im well impressed with the rebuilding of the wing, fantastic skills! Its looking great now, shame about the decals, speaking of which- ive got some old esci decals for a blenheim with the roundels you need, they are old but they should be ok with plenty of soaking, send me a pm with your address and you can gladly have them , cheers tony

First of all, many thanks to Tony for the decals. In the end I've found that the 63" decals from Modeldecal sheet 102 match the box art (though they are a couple of scale inches bigger in diameter than those originally supplied) and I've gone with them. They are superb and have had no trouble conforming with the help of set/sol. There has also been an advance on the overall build, as can be seen in the pic. Nearly there now.

Finished :abouttime:! The result can be seen in the completed section.

Many thanks to everybody who offered encouragement - I doubt it would have been finished otherwise. Would I do it again? No, there's too much work for not enough detail (I understand the MPM kit is better) though I do like the undercarriage. Next time it will be the Classic Airframes 1/48 example.

Cheers
