Thanks for the good positive feedback, it is much appreciated.
Richard, there is this documentary about the launching. She was white under the water which I guess must have changed throughout her life. I understand the Australian replica's colours were based on a model which was made at the...
Time for a progress report on this sailing ship build. The hull was painted with Humbrol acrylic 186 above the rubbing strake and 70 below. All brush painted as I don't have facilities for spraying. Those Humbrol paints which are now supplied in the dropper bottle are excellent - Thanks to John...
The Airfix Endeavour Bark is a kit which has been stored in the bedroom wardrobe for a while and it was decided to mark a start after completing Revell's HMS Bounty.
The two halves of the hull needed a fair amount of time spending to clean up the mould seams.
I was really concerned about...
Another use of the same hull by Revell was with the Nina and Pinta. Both kits are 1:90 scale yet the full-sized Pinta was a larger vessel.
When building Nina, there was a strange square cut-out piece in the deck with deck fittings on, just wondered why they did this. Only when I bought Pinta...
My top three
first - a scratch built r/c model of a River Thames Customs and Excise Cutter
second - Revell 1:90 "Nina"
third - r/c gaff rigged sailing yacht
If you are a skilled craftsman model maker, Sarik hobbies sell three plans for HMS Britannia. One for a 23.25" long electric version (MM303), another for a 46.5" steam powered (MM314) and a large 68" version (PB19). These are not kits but older type of plans from the 1950s/60s or 70s, which...
Hi, I had look around the internet and Key Publishing have it reduced to £5, in their bookazine range. It is also available in digital format from pocket mags.
Search - Airfix Model World Special Edition 2018.
Hope this helps

There is a good information about the build of the Airfix 1/48 Seafire by Tony Canfora in this Airfix publication from a few years ago. Sorry for the late reply, I don't always notice aircraft being a modeller of "floaty things".
Thank you, for the kind words which are very much appreciated. It really was a super little model which was built as an OOB build, with a minor change to the handrails. Now looking forward to the next build, Airfix's HM Bark Endeavour.

Some photographs of my Revell HMS Bounty, now completed.
Thanks for following the build in the 'Ships Under Construction' thread, the likes and comments were much appreciated.
Allen Dewire, in the build thread, you kindly mentioned the figures/crew, which I was unsure about using. I decided to...
Thanks for the good comments Allen and Paul, they are much appreciated
Yes the Bounty was a small ship of approx. 230 tons with a length of 27.7m and beam of 7.4m. A small ship (under 250 tons), was customarily fore and aft rigged, that is where Bounty differs in being fully rigged with square...
W.I.P. update - the model now has the "laundry hung out". The sails are the kit supplied plastic ones given a wash of acrylic white with a spot of ochre mixed in.
Still to do - there is further running rigging and the swivel canons need gluing in place. I am unsure about the crew and the kit...
Should be an interesting diorama subject. Will be following with interest.
Must agree with your thoughts about the decks, painted correctly the plastic ones are fine.
Thanks
I decided to use the kit supplied plastic sails. Gave them a wash with off-white. I did give consideration to making my own furled sails from tissue, but decide against and used the provided ones.
Used to get a couple of Sparrowhawks in the area a few years ago. Never managed to photograph them closely, I did manage this distance shot of the male back in 2017. Reading about them, the female is a much larger bird than the male and much more deadly.
