Hi!
I must admit it was a bit tricky to make these additional bits and pieces, but once I got them right it was just an upgrade kit to combine with Eduard and Brengun parts (I used their excellent PE cockpit).
I'm sure if you had the same parts I did, then you'd be able to build even better...
Thanks for your kind words! Some bits were really tricky. I was satisfied with flaps masters only after I made third set :D
I use 5x magnifying lamp and sometimes that is not enough. I wish I had some good camera plugged to some LCD screen ;)
Hi,
I'd like to show you my latest 144 model. I guess it doesn't need to be introduced over here ;)
I used Eduard model kit, Brengun PE detail set, Master gun barrels and some of my own upgrades, namely: resin flaps, separate control surfaces, gun and ammo bays, engine bay (the engine...
Hi guys!
Thank you very much for your kind words. The last picture from my workshop thread can give you rough idea of the size:
You can also see there the magnifying glass I use to see what I'm doing. Without it I wouldn't be able to make it even in 1:72 :)
Hi Tony!
Thanks for the tip. I already got the Rufe from F-Toys (along with their other seaplanes ;) ) I'm thinking of stripping a Kawanishi Alf and putting it on a catapult (in paint scheme from Nachi), but I havent decided yet. Before I start another stripped project, I need to clear my...
Thank you guys!
This model has some flaws but building it I learnt how to handle these little stringers because sometimes it was a bit tricky :D
Now I'm thinking of another seaplane to be stripped ;)
Hi,
It took almost a year to finish this model. Of course I took a couple of breaks but I think they were necessary as I couldn't rush with such a project. This is my first stripped model in 1:144. It gave me a lot of fun so I'm planning to build more models like this. And every next one is...
Hi,
This is my last update. After almost a year of struggle I finally finished it :)
I made the canopy frames mostly without the 'glass'
Also the engine is stripped of the cowling.
I finally made some weathering on the beaching dolly.
And now I am ready to take some gallery shots
Hello gents!
I want to finish this model soon, because I have to make space on my workbench for other great models. Here is what I made last weekend:
I still need to make stripped rudder, float struts, canopy and engine. Then I will apply decals and weather the whole thing.
Hello,
I think it's high time for an update.
First, I decided to strip the wing tip as well, so here it is:
Then I started working on the main piece of the wing:
These wires tired me a bit so I made the base. It is a piece of jungle somewhere near a beach.
The...
Thank you!
With a good magnifying glass it is simplier than it looks. Dave I've seen your Bristol Scout and admire your effort of scratch building. These days models tend to get bigger and bigger so for sake of micro modelling each and every small scale model is significant :D
I can't remember when was the last time I made something OOB. I find greatest joy in thinking how to do something undoable rather than just following instructions... 9_9
Hi Ian,
I watch the progress with a pleasure. I read that the "front office" is going to be closed, but are you planning to open something else?
Regards,
Peter
Hi Ian,
Thank you for your kind words. I think that from time to time all of us gets hit by the 'modelling madness' :) Unfortunatelly my insanity can't be cured and more stripped seaplanes are on my wicked mind :D
Hi Steve!
Thanks for your reply. I plan to build the one from tests period in Southhampton. I really like those yellow undersides :) I plan to use 1:144 Eduard kit and convert it to Vb + scratch build floats, ventral tail fin and modify air intakes. I will base my build on the below picture...
I started "experimenting" with preshading substitute made with fine marker.
The complete wing is going to be set ready for flight but the one stripped down si going to be folded:
I bent the bigger zig-zacs with aid of tweezers and a hobby knife:
But at the wing tip - the zig-zacs...
