Hi Guys!!

Here is the latest "product" of my workbench. It's HobbyBoss' P-51D as a fighter of No.19 Squadron "Dooleybird" in May 1945.

It's an easy assembly-kit and it's not really a highlight but it's o.k. ;)

On this model kit I have tried a large-area metallic finish for the first time. I used Gunze Mr.Metal Color.

And I think this kind of painting I have to practice a little bit longer.

Nevertheless I hope you like my "Dooleybird"!!

Cheers

Stefan:smiling3:

Top work Stefan! I really like the Mustang, it's my favourite WW2 aircraft & you've replicated it perfectly.

The little vignette is excellent, adds the scene while highlighting the model.

Cheers

I think it looks superb Stefan.

The model is well made and got that used look to it, the position of the aircraft and the figures give it a nice flow to the eye. Nice one.

Great job Stefan. Tell us about the paint you used, I'm just wondering if it's an easier alternative to Alclad.

Very nice work indeed Stafan.

Not yet tried an aluminium finish or perhaps more aptly it has not tried me. But it seems to me from the small bits and pieces I have had to finish in aluminium that it is a trial.

Your finish looks really fine and the subdued weathering absolutely perfect to my eyes.

Thanks, guys. I'm pleased that you like my first attempt at a metallic paint finish. Well, the handling of Gunze metallics is quiet simple.

At first you have to ensure that there are no bumps, lints or other particles on the model surface.

The following is a layer with "Mr. Metal Primer" (Gunze). Then the metallic paint comes onto the model. Always brush evenly and thinly.

The paint dries very quickly and can be polished with a soft cloth.

Finally, it is sealed with Mr. Metal Primer......that's all!!! ;)

I think Alclad provides a finer consistency of the paint particles, but it also smells very strict.

Cheers
