Morning all,
Attempted to make a base for this over the weekend and failed spectacularly

Just could not get the static grass to stand up this time and the spray adhesive has eaten into the finish on the photo frame

End result, wasted most of a pack of 12mm grass and a photo frame :disappointed:

Probably talking through the top of my head but it may be static in the air from all the storms that are knocking about.

John - thanks

Jim - it's a Duracell and almost new so should have been ok but the grass just wasn't trying to stand up. It managed to zap my finger and make my arm tingle though :rolling:

Scottie - possibly not, I also wondered if the weather may have something to do with it. Humidity, storms etc

All I seem to have succeeded in making is what looks like a Trump / Boris wig :smiling:

Well, I think I have pretty much finally succeeded in ruining this one :thumb2:
Was trying to go for the dusty look but over did it and obliterated most of the paint finish :disappointed:
Removed the previous grass and tried again but still didn't get it really standing up so all in all a bit of a disaster

Anyone else noticed that the site search function seems to be a bit useless - every time I try a search it refuses
Makes it hard to find my builds

Simon,
I do agree not one of your best mate but still at a level that most would aspire to.
As to the thread try Forums, Find threads on my page it lists all the threads I have posted.

Very up to date with the dried grass look. Would not look out of place on the fields of Europe at the moment. Sorry to hear you are not happy with the finish. I enjoyed watching the build and look forward to another master class in due course

Scottie - thanks. That does the trick. Still don't really see why it can't search for {ST} though but there we go :rolling:

Paul - good idea but barrel is fixed (wasn't designed to be moveable either)

Steve - it may still be partially resurrected yet again. Yesterday morning, since it couldn't make it much worse, I used neat X20 and a flat brush to remove some of the sprayed 'dust'. I shall fiddle a bit more and see how it goes

Pete - complete with tank?

Nice work Simon, even though your not that happy with it, I also really liked the build thread, Looking forward to seeing it after you've tinkered with it again.

Morning Simon,
You sound disappointed with your build and base but I think it’s pretty decent myself, well used and abused:thumb2:

Shame Trumpeter didn’t take the opportunity to make the kit a little more accurate but hey ho.
I’ll still pick one up at some point :smiling4:

You shouldn't knock yourself mate, you attain detail in miniature some of us only dream of in larger scales, upwards and onwards to the next one.

Hopefully Trumpeter will take on board the changes you have made when they do a future update on the kit. Nice to see some variation in colour on the final pics. Adds more depth and interest. Now on to Whippets and Mark 1's:thumb2::cool:

Morning all

Si - happy with the build phase just not so happy with my painting as usual. Model collect were meant to be doing a T62 - it has been listed since they first appeared - but unfortunately it hasn't materialised yet. They seem to have now gone off into the realms of fantasy so it may never appear

Mick - thanks. If only I could do a good job of painting it :smiling:

Steve - sadly I doubt they will ever bother.

As you say, back to WW1 now
