I have decided to give my tired old airfix hurry a quick make over as have purchased a new set of after market decals and a camouflage masking set.
I am currently leaning towards the second and third option but most likely to be the second.
Here's the sets and decals and the most important victim.WP_20181024_14_44_40_Pro.jpg

Hi Peter,

I wouldn't know the difference between the 2 MKs at all. I would say, if you are not worried about 100% accuracy, go for it. As long as you are having fun, enjoy it. The old one looks really good in my eyes.

It's been on the shelf for a few years and as it was done before I started airbrushing so it was in need of a refurbishment plus I have already started on rubbing it down.WP_20181025_14_15_47_Pro.jpgWP_20181025_14_15_34_Pro.jpg

Hi Peter,

This is the only kit that has illuded me and I had to settle for one from Trumpeter. Will be watching you bring this up to present standards.

Cheers,
Richard

The Mk1's had a slightly shorter nose. The MkII's had a 4.5" plug added just in front of the canopy for the slightly longer newer Merlin XX engine. It's your build, just enjoy building it the way you want it.

Cheers,
Richard

After a good run down and masking I have applied the first new coat of ocean grey.
And applied the masks and they just need a bit of cutting to make them fitWP_20181026_17_38_09_Pro.jpgWP_20181028_09_10_40_Pro.jpg

Hi Peter, remember you're doing it in 1/24 scale so easy on the wriggly curves. :smiling4:

Cheers,

Hi Peter
Cracking paint job on this old model. Hardly believe it's the same kit that came off the shelf. Masks look a good buy. The decals will bring this alive.

Shame, a plane that big seems like an ideal size for adding working lights to.
