Andy GH has just pointed out that the Last scheduled SIG for this calender year starts quite soon. The First of July which is just around the corner!!!!

As the Title would suggest the subject is Tank Busters. So a nice wide open theme. Aircraft, another tank (though give it some thought and not just any tank, a real tank killer please!!!). Anti tank gun, Anything that is used to turn a tank into scrap.

Any questions, as usual, in this thread please.

Hi Ian

I have a nice Jagpanther and several Achilles in my stash, are they allowed?

Hi Tom, what was the primary function for the two things you have named?

Aircraft but open to anything. Been looking at and thinking about the British 25 pounder as a diorama ?

I like the artillery idea, I almost went for that or a Typhoon but I'm rubbish at aircraft

Just a suggestion, although the 25 pdr sometimes used an armour piercing shell the 17 pounder was the specialist tank killer

Stuka had a nice tank buster version G-1 I think had a single belly mounted cannon or the D-3 with underwing pods

Ju88P-1 with a 75mm pak on the belly...

Heinkel 129 B-3

Me 410 A

Hurricane IID with 40mm canons under the wings.

Hawker Typhoon

Bell Air cobra P39

The Russians had a couple as well Stormovich ? How about a helicopter. The Russian Kamov Ka 50 would fit the bill well.

25LB Field gun was used to pop tanks of in Africa, so why not. the 17lber was just better at it....And dont forget the little 6lb'er QF anti tank gun. ot the 5lb'er, loads of options there.

How about a nice big figure with a Boyes anti-tank rifle...

Okay then, advice time please chaps.....

I take it the A-10 Thunderbolt would be included in this build????

If so then after watching an episode of Stargate SG1 where-in two blew up a caravan, i've been reliably informed (i.e. TOLD!!!) by t'other arf that i've got to build one.

Which would be the better 1/48th kit, Revell, Tamiya or Italeri ... i'm leaning towards the Italeri unless people know better ????

I've built both revel and tamiya a10s see my dio hog riders. the revell kits cockpit is more detailed plus you can open the flaps, and i believe their is even a full on show engine kit available on e bay.

I've got myself a Revell 1:35 M901A1 ITV for this SIG build. I've just looked at the sprues and instructions, now I remember why I don't build tanks.

Think I'm gonna need some help from the tankies.

Still, I got six months to cock it up real good:wavetowel3:.

Tony.

Nice One Colin, I was pondering an A-10 myself. Good excuse to build one now. Hmm, might see if I can find one somewhere.

Ian tamiyas A10 in 1/48 comes in at around £40.00 the Revell one comes in at around £18.00 to £20.00 and the detail is much better on the revell one with the new compass grey colour scheme and as i have said you can get the engines for it on e-bay, however if you want to spend a little more cash then trumpeter do a very good 1/32 kit for around £90.00 which i have been working on for 2 months now. The A10 is my all time favorite aircraft a real killer in every sense of the word.
