Hi folks.....
I've just bought this for a single figure sum.

Having built one before, and despite knowing it's an old kit, all the short comings and read the mostly snotty, negative comments on 'tinternet. I'll still enjoy the build - It's my tank!....:thumb2:.....:tongue-out3:

I'm perfectly happy with vinyl tracks. ( Just as well, as I can't justify the money for 'special tracks') so I'll just do my best with what's in the box. Mind you, having written the last bit, there are plenty of scratch built thingies I could have a bash at....we'll see.

Cheers.

Ron

O.K., Paul, you've got me. I couldn't resist making a start on this 'Toy' - as the snobs of the modelling world call this model. "Lacking detail, blah blah! So it's a very old kit, but who gives a s**ff anyway!? I'm enjoying the OOB build, warts and all.......

Here is some progress folks-
I've put together the bits I needed to build before the zimmerit was applied.

Paste applied and scribed..... Rough as yer' like! Then exhausts fixed.

Painting next to blend in the zimmerit.

We're off and running....

Hi, Bob. I use a polyfilla (other fillers are available!) / PVA mix. I haven't a clue as to ratios. I just mixed the stuff 'till I could work it properly. There's a bit more info over in Critique's corner.

Cheers.

Cheers Ron, I'll have a look at the thread.

Knowing my memory I've probably already asked you on that thread and forgotten.

Me and ma dawg have just come in from making a snowman with the children who live down the lane from us. So after thawing out, and to start the blending in process, I've given the zimmerit a first coat of yellow.

I know I've written this before, but don't waste your good paints on this kind of thing. (Buildings and diorama bases for instance) I use cheap children's acrylics.

For those going to have a go at their own zimmerit, don't mess about, trowel it on and work quickly. You will only have minutes to complete the pattern.
Don't be fussy either. When it's finally painted, any 'imperfections' will blend in.(I hope!) If you prefer a perfect surface, stick P.E. or decal zimm. on the model. There is nothing wrong with that whatsoever....your choice. - But filla is a darn sight cheaper!.....:thumb2:

Thanks Monica. I'm glad to read you use the same cheapo paints - Seem daft not to.

Here's a bit more of an update. I've painted the model in it's correct base colour. And had a play with one set of wheels.

....a few bits still to fix on the the rear end.

No negative waves, Lady!
Just try it out on some spare plastic and don't be too fussy. If you mess it up, just scrape it all off and start again - I do, often! Nothing wrong with that, it's all part of the zimm. application fun....

Small update folks. Wheels on and I've made a start on the turret.
