Completed Truck & Load Dio - 1/72 "Downtime"

Hi all,

Finally finished this one off. The diorama is set in the Soviet-Afghan war, featuring a few vehicles from a Russian supply column, halted while advance troops scout the road ahead. The Ural 4320 is laden with various supplies, ranging from ammunition to personal belongings, all heading to a FOB further along the way. One of the escort vehicles is a BTR-60, whose driver can be seen sitting on top, sharing a sneaky 'beverage' with one of the Motorised Infantry soldiers.

The vehicles are both by ICM, and were mostly quite enjoyable to build (anything you see that looks brittle could and did break at some point). The figures are a mixture of Mars and Orion units, using only the Afghan-ish looking ones.

I know there are a few issues that are too late for me to fix now, but I've learnt from that for future desert dioramas. As always, comments and feedback are most welcome ;)

I like it Gregg, plenty to look at. A nice, compact diorama.

There's some work gone into this.

I do like the sand / dust blown effect you have on the Ural, the way it's caught on ledges and things, just right.

Well done.

Very nice build Greg, had to laugh at the first photo though. I thought he was having a pee, sorry lol.

Have fun, John

Thanks for the comments, guys. John, you thought right, that's exactly what the guy in the picture's doing. You get two in the Orion Russians set, and I finally found a use for one of them ;)

Nice one Greg. I have never had the nerve to do a 1/72 kit, let alone a dio., so bonus points for that.

Love the guy taking a whizz, lol.
