We have dealt with moulding perspex so lets move on to how to cut this material, thin sheets of perspex can be easily cut with scissors, snips, light shears or a paper cutter, for cutting thicker sheets of perspex and Catalin use a fine toothed saw,a small fretsaw or hacksaw is best, one word of warning the blade needs to be new and above all sharp otherwise it will stick badly, jam and possibly damage your work, allow the saw to work easily and use the minimum amout of pressure, let the saw do its job without force.

The problem with cutting perspex is that the saw generates a lot of heat and then disaster as it jams solid as the material goes sticky.

To help with the above get an ordinary candle and continue to rub the wax along the blade whilst sawing.

If you have a mechanical fretsaw then observe the heat problem, start with a pilot hole and push gently against the blade, back off to allow the sheet to cool as you do the cutting.

Work patiently and slowly for best results with this versatile material.
