...or Drew's JGSDFLAV for short!

When I first saw this model I decided that I would have to get one and build it, I'm also planning on getting a second one for a future build (all depends on how this one goes though - as it's a Tamiya I'm guessing it'll be pretty easy going).

I've also got some JGSDF Troopers and a Recon biker that I may add, the main focus will be the Komatsu though.

Thinking aobut getting some PE for it but there are a few options, have to look at the kit in greater detail before making a final decision on this.

Anyway, looking forward to this one, been wanting to build this for a while...

Made a start on this the other day then stalled due to a paint issue...I didn't have the ones I needed!

Thankfully, after ordering them on Sunday evening they arrived this morning - yay (thanks John for the excellent service yet again).

So here's where we are just now.

Everything has been undercoated (I do this while everything's still on the sprues) and I've made a start with the build.

The motorbike went together surprisingly quickly and easily, still a few more pieces to go on it but couldn't put these bits on until I'd painted other bits (and couldn't do this until I had the paint!).

I've given it a quick first spray of Khaki Drab and I'll hand paint the engine, chain, etc.

The axle units for the Komatsu have been built and are waiting to be painted and screwed on to the die-cast chassis.

And the motorbike rider, LAV driver and 3 other troopers are in a state of partial readiness.

After reading up on the JGSDF, I've decided not to do this as an Iraq scene. Instead I'm going to do a small dio around a disaster clean up (something like Fukushima). I'm going to be using the following colour scheme for the LAV but need to try to work out what Tamiya colours are the closest.

Well looking good so far Drew.

As for paint colour for the LAV, on my moniter it looks like RAF dark earth and Dark Green could be close.
