Hi all, well here is my first ever completed ship so plenty of room for improvement but reasonably happy with the outcome apart from the fact one of the white topped boats completely vanished! OOB build with some rigging added and painted with mr hobby aqueous paints, the plane decals didnt want to stick so there glued down with varnish and then buried in it. The flag decal was glued to some foil with pva and then given a bit of shape. Wasnt ready to go for railings in this scale but there coming on the next build.20221224_133234.jpg20221224_132827.jpg20221224_132729.jpg20221224_132154.jpg20221224_131947.jpg20221224_131851.jpg20221224_131829.jpg20221224_131801.jpg20221224_131604.jpg20221224_131051.jpg20221224_130643.jpg

Cracking build, Mark.
I love these huge and very busy Japanese warship superstructures.

Well done!

The Kongo was the last Japanese battleship built outside of Japan - she was built as a battlecruiser, in Barrow in Furness in 1913. She was essentially rebuilt between the wars & retitled a fast battleship.
Have you seen the Flyhawk 1/700 ship kits? Superb, but very pricy!

Very nice indeed. She looks every inch the thoroughbred.
Mark,
That's a cracking result.
Thanks chaps :thumb2:
Dave, i know a lot where built in the uk,im slowly educating myself as ive developed quite an interest in the ijn stuff, the aoshima and fujimi are enough of an expense at the moment as im really working myself up to build some 1/350 and there not cheap.

Some of the Fujimi/Aoshima/Tamiya models are old & they show it! I've a fair few in the stash - if you have an eye on a particular model, let me know, and if I've got it, I'll open it up & see what I think of it...... an example is the Aoshima Chikuma & the Fujimi Tone - sister ships, pretty much identical, but the Aoshima dates from 2002 & the Fujimi from 1972 - and the mouldings show it!

Im trying to keep my eye out for the later mouldings but i will bare that in mind thanks Dave, i look on japan plaza and the difference in prices is a good indication.

Very nicely built Mark. The new molds from Fujimi ought to have differences if you build the other 3 sister ships rather than the old mold that have all 4 identical with minor spares for simple alterations. If you like IJN ships go to www.combinedfleet.com for your fix.

Cheers,
Richard aka Wabble

Well Mark, the guys have said it all so far!!! I can only say that I realize why you didn't do the PE railings. Looks like rubber room work to me......I only hope the crew doesn't drink too much Sake and one of them falls overboard though..........

Prost and Ho Ho Ho!!!
