Hello everyone! I'm back with a new build.
This time it's a IJN Kyushu J7W1. I believe only two prototypes were built, one of which flew days before the war in the P.T.O. ended; the flying one was captured and sent to the USA where it is to this day, albeit in parts from photos I've seen. The second one seems to have been scrapped!
Looking at the aircraft's statistics it seems impressive, and that's with the pusher prop. I imagine a jet-powered version would have been very interesting!

It's a strange-looking bird and that's what attracted me to it. It's been in my stash for a few years now, but I didn't have the know-how or equipment/tools to build it before.

Here's the airframe looking very untidy. I've used Vallejo Putty for seams and filling gaps. The engine to fuselage join wasn't brilliant and required sanding down and filling. It's strange, as I've seen others build this kit and mention they didn't use any filler.....

You can see the cockpit in this pic. It's a no thrills affair with a decal instrument panel which actually looks okay. I made some tamiya tape seat harnesses and painted the oxygen bottles and what appears to be a fire extinguisher, weathering it all with a silver pencil to simulate wear and tear.
As a side note, I don't want to build another IJN green/grey aircraft, so as this type didn't go operational, it gives me scope for a 1946 scenario, but not too much of a wild one - just one based on logic - I hope...lol
A trainer version is my idea. I wanted a yellow/orange IJN trainer scheme, but at this stage of the war the upper surfaces were sprayed....you guessed it: IJN Green! I guess this was camo attempt to counter the B-29 bombers and strafing P-51s. The paint still chipped off though, and underneath would be orange. I'm thinking this would be interesting. After all, there were hundreds of these aircraft on order, and if the war had dragged on, trainers would have been needed so my trainer idea is a realistic one, don't you think? I'm trying to convince you all here.....
