Hello everyone. Been lurking in the shadows for a while now and i am astonished by the quality of builds on here. Thought i would actually start trying to contribute instead of lurking.

Anyway i'm in Scotland and work in agriculture. Been modelling for years but took a massive break from it for a while for personal and family reasons. But i am looking forward to being back in the hobby and sharing it with my sons who have now taken an interest in it.

Mostly WWII ETO aircraft. I'd love to have a stab at the armour too but the weathering scares the living daylights outta me

Give it a go! Give the model a good gloss coat first, then you can always clean off the weathering if you don't like it.

So? Either build a model in parade ground condition, or — and this is the better option, IMHO — just go for it. The good thing about weathering is that you can’t really get it seriously wrong as long as the model looks dirty and/or worn. A very good and easy start is simply a dirt-coloured wash, thicker over the lower areas and the back, thinner on the front and up top, and then drybrush with some more dirt colours in those same areas. You can overdo it, though, and a lot of people these days do just that (especially with scratched and chipped paint), but there’s a simple solution to that too: stop when you think it looks dirty or worn enough :smiling3:

Alan, there's always room for one more! What scale do you primarily work in?
Cheers, Rick H.
