Home made thinners

I'm not 100% sure this has been spoke of before but I was watching s you tube video the other day on "home brew " thinners. I use all the reg thinners like tamiya X20a and also Vallejo etc but wondered if any of you out there know of s good home brew thinner ( looking at trying to save money heee and there as we all do but is if as easy as they say to make? Any plus or minus points ?
