Hi all,
I have a puzzle (as normal)...
I am currently building the Revell A400M Atlas. As usual, did the inside bits first.
Inside, at the end of the loading floor, there is a bulkhead with detail including doors. I painted this up using Humbrol enamels and glossed it with Humbrol Clear Gloss.
Then took some Humbrol Black Enamel Wash and finely applied it to the door lines. The wash run along as hoped. Lovely.

I took the long loading floor. I painted this up using Humbrol enamels and glossed it with the same Humbrol Clear Gloss.
Then took some Humbrol Black Enamel Wash and finely applied it to the floor lines.

Nothing. It would not run; yet the floor was, to the naked eye, just as glossy. Same primer, same paint, same varnish, same sheen.

This is my first foray into using enamel washes. Have I stumbled into one of the many potential pitfalls?

Kind regards,
John

Hi John
If the gloss was an enamel gloss then maybe the gloss on the floor was not quite dry enough and the wash had reactivated the underlying gloss. That would have prevented the wash flowing.
Just a thought.

Jim,
Thanks. I hadn't thought of the time aspect.
Regards,
John
