Aoshima 1/12th scale Kawasaki KZ1000P Police bike.......to be precise a bike of the Los Angeles Police Department California Highway Patrol

for a bit of history Kawasaki made variants of this bike from 1977 til 2005

the early one had just a glass screen (any one remember 'Jon and Ponch in CHiPs on tv in late 70s/early 80s?).....this is the later post 1982 version with the fairing

ive never done an Aoshima bike kit before and im quite impressed/worried by the amount of parts.........the box really is chokka full of sprues!

Nice one Paul. If it's like any of the Aoshima kits I've build it should go together a dream.

Love these bikes. Must have been a dark day for American traditionalists when they stopped buying HDs

That looks very nice Paul, like the metallic finish.

I'll join in on this if there's room Paul. Always liked CHiP's when growing up and this should look really good.

I really like your engine detail so far

Watching this. What paints did you use on the lump?
nothing special.....the aluminium is a rattle can of silver meant for doing car wheels......the black is just matt black...the chromey bits are the kits chromey bits

making some progress........but the decals are some of the worst ive ever used!! very thin!

they break quite easily......the first one i put on was a large one on the tank and it virtually disolved when i put some microsol on it!!...had to improvise with something from the spares box

Ah yes, CHiPs :smiling3: Saturday nights before the British comedies started. Homework done, chores done, dinner gobbled up, pocket money spent on lollies, ready for the TV fest. :smiling3:

Great work so far Paul. I did not realise these were Kawasaki bikes, always presumed they were Harley Davidsons.
