This will be a MAJOR bash project between these two kits

This will be a go anywhere 'skidder' as we call them, made to be as "functionally accurate" as I can imagine it should be. It's function? to retrieve felled logs from forest and bring to loading area.

This will require winches, skid plates, rigging, home made chains for tires and tracks etc.... It will be a stripped down and highly modified "Hillbilly Shade Tree Special" ^_^  A well worn and suitably beat up work horse. What's the specific plan?....hmmm...aint got one :/ . How are you going to it?....Haven't the foggiest o.O  Stay tuned and we'll figure it out together.........Jim :smiling3:

UPDATE # 1

Just got it roughed in a bit, you can get the idea I guess. Been thinking of going off the rails a bit and working on a whole series of "Jim's Loggin" military surplus vehicles converted to "drop em and drag em" operations in the deep woods. What the heck, why not?..... All will be that irritating orange color (so's not to lose em in the sticks o.O )..... Just need to do something different and unique...and fun ^_^ ............Jim :smiling3:

Thanks Monica, something a bit different, always need some variety. Now that winter is on the way I'll have much more hibernation time in near future to give proper time to hobby.

Still very primitive and pics are bad :$ but you get the idea I'm sure.

UPDATE....Starting to come together...tough color orange , but it's something different. Fun fabricating from scrap boxes. Still more detailing to be done, been busting knuckles on real equipment also...seems kind of surreal, so big to so little :S  Hope you like so far....added a friend, an old Sherman just wasting away on the dust shelf, figured I'd give her a new purpose in life ^_^ .......When all is said and done I will be setting them in a woods road scenario doing their job....dragging logs to the loading site...........Jim :smiling3:

That looks really good Jim. Rust is a tricky effect to get right, but you're showing how it should be done.

Now this is a refreshingly different use for some army surplus......

Nice one Jim. Great imagination, leaving loads of scope for additions.

I can sense you are having fun with this build - and it shows!

Top work.

Thanks so much Monica, still some tweaking left on these two. I do know that in Russia lots of old military stuff was just given to many farmers (de-fanged of course) and they were "barn-converted" into farm implements, mostly plow pullers and such.............now, where is that old KV1 kit?.... ;) ^_^
