So, am I right in thinking that the Zimmerit is not just moulded onto the surface? You have to make it with a mould and filler?

Some kits come with it moulded. Tamiya for some reason dont .
But there again they do sell separate zimmeritt sheets

Moulding Zimmerit onto the surface of a model is a difficult process. Italeri tried it, but it looked too regular & therefore unrealistic.
Dragon have pretty much cornered the market in developing the technology to do it well. Their slide moulding process allows for very detailed, crisp detail.

Hey hey hey, where there's a KT, there will be a Stands as well! Most beautiful tanks, second only to the KTs with production turrets. ^_^

I wonder what your technique is for winter washes... You know mine was the MIG light gray dust pigment + water + white paint!

Hmmm having just thought about a Tiger B Porsche turret with a winter whitewash... The only one I can think of was Annalise.

Anneliese belonged to the 503. sPzAbt. and was one of the two Tiger II "Porsche" which survived to the summer 1944 France campaign. It was moved, with the rest of the unit, to Hungary in September 1944. The "famous" pictures of Anneliese show it during maintenance around Chistmas-New year 1944-45 in Hungary as a heavily withewashed vehicle.

In fact, most people now believe that Annalise was painted white at the factory & was quite literally completely white, as opposed to a field application that would have chipped and/or faded.

Worth thinking about for historical accuracy ;)

Hi,John I see, that that question about the zimmerit, has been looked after, there is also a Dragon kit or 2 that has the zimm, molded in,to the surface,

so very glad that you popped in Patrick, always look forward to ,getting some new facts,:D
very interesting what your saying as I did come across some, pics,of a fully white sprayed king, but it did not show the turret number,
so could very well be the one your saying 503,
and also came across one ,other that I did like which was a gray/white scream,
which I did real like, ? what would you think about that,?could not save the pic,:sad:
and also there is a few new kits out showing an all white como,

The one on the Dragon box art is supposed to be Annalise. The other photo you've posted isn't one in a whitewash - many older pictures show a big contrast between the black and white tones which make it look like it's a white tank.

The Germans rarely used whitewash, much less than the Russians.

I think that's an oil or cleaning spray rather than a paint spray.
