Whilst waiting for my GB kit to arrive I'm twiddling my thumbs so have dug this out to finaly get it finished my dad and I started this I think back in the 80s and it has stayed this way since then.

The Mossie was my favorite airplane as a lad and I didn't want to mess this up though it sports some of my fingerprints and as I couldn't paint very well it got put away.

I will have to do this with the wheels down as the UC doors just don't fit and I really don't like wheels down planes but hey ho a first for every thing.

Nice dave , it was regarded as a good kit in Its day and is still worth building today . The decals might surprise you and be fine  , they dont look too bad.  Cheers tony

This looks fab Dave and even better that it's the age it is fond memories attached with it. I'll be looking on to see the progress. Decals especially old ones I have a nightmare with but as Tony said you may be surprised

I have read a few reviews of this kit and there seems to be lots of fit issues in all sorts of areas my main one is the canopy basicly it doesn't  the hole is the wrong size and shape not sure how I will sort this out.

This is after lots of shaping and sanding I dare not take anymore material away.

Reminds me of an old airfix Blenheim I built, I swear the canopies were from several different kits.

The best suggestion I have is to fill the gaps with PVA adhesive and paint over once dry

That is exactly what I was about to write. Glue it on with PVA and then dry give it a bit of PVA as filler or Vallejo putty and wipe smooth with a wet cotton bud. Jobs a good'n

Thanks chaps but I've gone a little more drastic as the kit had different nose options and canopies I have chopped off the bomber nose and have attached the fighter bomber nose the fighter canopy looks bigger so should fit better  :S .

I would have probably tried the pva route if I had seen your replies first.

Looks good Dave, nicely recovered. PVA is definitely the way to go with canopy gaps.

The typical B.IV Mosquito scheme for that era is Ocean Grey and Dark Green over Medium Sea Grey (day bomber scheme, although some earlier builds had sky undersides)
