Afternoon,

Just picked up the Revell 1/142 North Sea Fishing Trawler from Kits 4 All in Croydon - my LMS.

Any idea if or where any detailing parts are available for this?

Particularly looking for replacements for the railings and some better crew figures.

Cheers,

John.

John,
the scale is a weird 1/142, but close enough to 1/144 to make no visual difference. You can get 1/144 figures - Preiser make a few sets. There are 1/144 photo etched railings made by Eduard, but they are designed for other ships & are very expensive! - Maybe a Far East maker does sets. Aber make PE railings in 1/150, which will look fine, but sourcing them may be a problem!
The model dates back to 1970, I reckon, and has seen several name changes!

John. I noticed the original post date too. It just goes to show that sooner or later the S.M. Cavalry will come over the hill bringing help..... :thumb2:

When I built this trawler on here, I saw the price of aftermarket railings, so decided to file the kit ones down to a reasonable, and for me anyway, acceptable size.

Did you ever finish your vessel? If so, I would love to see your version with all the bells and whistles on her, rather than my O.O.B. version......with a few scratch made bits added, mind.;)

Doesn't matter how old a thread is. The info is still valid, especially for those who squirrel away kits and resurrect them out of the cupboard years later.
That old Revell North Sea Trawler kit has been re released in different guises over the years.
When it first came out I believe it was of a vessel named 'Kandahar', and I think that for one re release it was marketed it as a Russian Spy Trawler?
Since then it might have been produced a number of times with different fishing vessel names.

Marcle Models who are card model specialists I believe stock Aber PE railings in different scales.
