John... I took a parcel in for next-door this week ... it was a document tube that was easily over 2 foot long by about 2.5 inch diameter.

The postage on it was £2.50 ish

That would do it for the 61.5 cm stuff

Their maximum they said they will take is 610mm, would they be so petty to not take something that was 10mm more?

This is how you get round it mate ... from the royal mail site

Rolled and cylinder shaped parcels

For rolled and cylinder shaped items, the length of the item plus twice the diameter must not exceed 104cm, with the greatest dimension being no more than 90cm. Rolled and cylinder shaped parcels that measure up to 45cm in length and 8cm in diameter and do not exceed 2kg can be sent as small parcels.

Thanks Colin, I've been saving a 6ft cylinder that we got with a roller blind, I've been going to take it to the tip but keep forgetting, looks like it will come in useful.
