Heres another of the excellent zvezda i-16s im on with . Its going to be in Finnish airforce markings , this aircraft was captured and used by the Finns against the Russians . The decals are coming from the excellent print scale sheet and its going to need a bit of fettling in the shape of some scratchbuilt skis and a rebuilt propeller. Heres the airframe with a bit of paint on it . 63EC753B-1032-4F0E-92F6-723A7266BA4D.jpeg355D0B3F-8254-4028-A75C-6D676ABFDA70.jpeg

Got started on the skis , bit of half round sprue from the spares box and a bit of the unused kit closed u/c option and here we are . The ski undercarriage on this aircraft didnt have any doors fitted so I cant use any of the kit u/c legs , I’ll be using some fibre optic strands for the struts . 821D128E-F711-4737-9D2B-04B7F37F24EA.jpeg7E2CC2EA-2F85-49E3-82CB-D1142A307A4D.jpegD7495C6A-74C8-4DAE-956E-80A41A04866E.jpeg0C48DA92-132B-4E0A-869A-2FD7B02AE251.jpeg

Bit more on this one - the skis have had a 0.6 mm hole drilled in them for the main undercarriage strut . The 3 struts will be made with fibre optic strand from one of those cheapo UFO lamps - see here https://www.scale-models.co.uk/thre...delling-materials-list.6491/page-3#post-49009
Ive also been sorting the propeller . This aircraft had the bare propeller hub so the kit one with spinner had to be butchered. I cut off the blades and set about making a centre section and spindle , the micro pcb drill bits coming in very useful again. The round section of plastic rod had a tiny 0.7 mm hole drilled through it for the spindle which was micro brass tube, then the prop blades were superguled on . Ive also fitted and painted the windscreen . Next up is a varnish and decals .CFDD538C-296B-476A-B828-4DFB6E4E8C7D.jpeg9B135C34-8F6F-4937-81F8-879737C87D53.jpegDC131C04-E704-4FA0-B68D-09A72AB5B884.jpeg40FE79C3-9230-479A-91F3-D591B2B197EC.jpeg00CE2718-434C-48B2-890B-CA1CE9172A7A.jpeg03DAF92C-CF2B-4E0F-8D02-59A16C19A9D2.jpeg5831EBDC-E2BC-4493-9BCA-2338AAD713CC.jpegFA42F04E-63FF-4E84-9EB1-1C5C4162798B.jpeg4883ECF6-D084-47B1-9703-BB66EB967020.jpeg

It had a good coat of klear yesterday, followed today by the decals. Ive painted up the prop and it looks good .The other tiny bits that need painting ( guns , exhausts , nav lights ) will be done before it gets a couple of light coats of matt then its just about doneD8A0602A-E489-4DD1-A9DC-E4D7EA82A8AF.jpegB95536F8-1DF0-409D-87D0-64902B2F45A5.jpegBC0E9054-5BC4-414F-9112-F9FF82146CD0.jpeg

That's the "bomb" Tony. What's the wall thickness on your brass tubing, It appears to be rather thin in the pics. Rick H.

Last job , the cables that hold the skis at the right angle , now sorted courtesy of some 5 amp fuse wire . Prop slotted in and its finished , thanks for watching , ill be putting up a completed thread , combining this with the Spanish typ 5 conversion , cheers tony5B3F3F74-E958-4667-A3D7-2A4FEAEC5F09.jpeg
