Hi

I was wondering as we all have scale models ,if I want to know the real dimensions to any part of the real thing how to calculate that ?,for example I have just finished the A-10 ThunderBolt scale 1/48 ,the length of the wing 14 cm , so how long will be the length of wing in the real plane? What is the formula to convert dimensions for scale model to real dimensions?

thanks

If the model is 1;48 scale then simply multiply the model by 48 for the real size. So if it is 6 inches long it would be 24 feet in real life. In your example of a 14cm wingspan, 14x48=672 cm. However, although scale models are supposed to be accurate to scale, they may have some 'errors' in them as some parts are interpreted from pictures rather than having the original scale drawings
