I have tis going on, trying to get it off the bench by the end of the month. The Ibex 1/48 T-6 Texan II in Centennial of Naval Aviation colors.
Not a bad kit really, more like a limited run one than a mainstream such as Hasegawa, etc. It comes with some resin parts for the nose, spinner, exhausts, seats etc.
The cockpit is pretty decent, the instrument panes were dressed up with the kit decals, some spares, and scratch built landing gear and parking brake levers.
The resin seats were pretty decent, and looked well enough when painted up. The support brace between the canopy breakers on the front seat was made from a piece of styrene rod. The leg restraints were added from Tamyia tape painted blue, and the center pull rings from stretched sprue.
The kit comes with a pair of vac formed canopies that fit well when all trimmed and sanded to fit.
Model Master Gloss Sea Blue was used for the overall color, with AK Extream metal for the leading edges.
Decals going on, I used a set from Two Bob's, they are printed by Micro Scale and went down perfectly! The nose checkers were the most time consuming as they are individual strips that have to be aligned and offset for each row, plus individual squares for the tight areas of the nose around the chin intake. This was the most nerve wracking part of the whole deal, as the only alignment aide to get this all right was getting the anti glare panel masked symmetrically and correctly as that sets the datum for all the checks. Fortunately, I get guess I got it close enough as the checkers seem to all match up pretty well.
