Thank thee Pete... 2 in a row! I'm shocked!!! :nerd:

Again sticking with the nautical side, 3 questions:
1. Name the ship
2. What's it's pennant number?
3. Which country does it serve?

(Excuse the smudge, I didn't want to make it to easy! :tongue-out3:)

Thats the shako of a chasseur of the guard. Or a detail from Gericault's painting of the same name.

That makes me wonder: how can you tell the two (Tromp and De Ruyter) apart, other than by the number painted onto the hull? It’s not my area of specialty, and the only reason I guessed De Ruyter is because a few hours before I replied last night, I watched Saving Lives at Sea. That showed De Ruyter towing a coaster with engine trouble, and on seeing the photo Lee posted, I thought, “It looks just like the frigate in that show” so I went for that :smiling3:

Pure luck - I came across Tromp and not De Ruyter so I went for Tromp.

The cypher on the blade looks like Edward VII so that thoud date it 1902 - 1910. presumably cavalry but that is as close as I can get.
