Jakko, The lamp-like device is not attached or has nothing to do with the tubes.

Sorry Jon and Tim. but they are not for ladders either.

I think it is only fair to Peter to solve this and let him have his go!

Ok, the extra point name I was looking for is...Christmas tree holders (or stands) and this is why,

As you can see, the tubes held saplings for extra camouflage when the rocket was in the upright position. Although the firing stands for the V2 were well camouflaged, low flying allied fighters had a chance to spot them. Every little bit helped to conceal them...

It seems like I have 2 items that were not identified now. It doesn't matter as this is such an interesting thread and you do learn things from it!

So, without further ado…………..Take it away, Mr. Day!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Guys,

The ladder was not used in tactical V2 units. They were used at test sites only. Tactical unit troops climbed up the ladder on the right side of the trailer to lower the work platforms.

Tim, Operation Backfire was three test firings by the British and would not have answered the question as their Meillerwagen trailer didn't have them. It is an interesting read though.

Ok, maybe I didn't write the statement properly. The Op Backfire story would not have answered the question of what the tubes were for. The trailer in the photo has them, But....

I don't see them here...But,

There they are again...

Blimey, they’ll need really big Xmas trees to hide that......they would be big enough for Herman G to dress up as a fairy and sit on the top for the works Xmas do.....

It is Peter Day's turn. I just filled in for him the other night. I hope he's rested up from his new granddad duties.
