1796 pattern British heavy cavalry sword? Not sure why it might be an early example, but I’ll hazard a guess that the later models had a pointed tip (going by those also appearing in photos when I search for them).

It;s a 1796 Pattern Heavy Cavalry Trooper's Sabre.

It has the "hatchett point" as opposed to a rounded point????

And a massive NO to Lee.
1796 pattern British heavy cavalry trooper's issue sabre with the original hatchet tip.
Just a big heavy axe cum club really. Originally a 35" blade but often reduced due to grinding the tip to a sharp point .
jakko was first by a dodgy VAR decision.
