Hello guys,

Finished this one in 2 months, not bad for my slow standard :smiling2:. Nice kit by Tamiya, I also added Eduard PE + Tamiya upgrade set + metal barrel from Masters Model. Not quite satisfied with the paint job though, first experience with WW2 Japanese and quite liking it, might build again in the future.

Comments and inputs are welcomed as always, thanks for lookin’

Leo

Hi Leo,

That's a nice Zeke you have done. You've added some piping to the engine I see...nice. I've heard Tamiya's 1/48 Zeros are one of the best around. Makes me wanna build the one I have. Looks like everything on this forum makes me wanna build something I see. You guys have some great builds.

Cheers,
Richard

Thanks Richard, the kit was awesome unfortunately the decal was a bit thick so I have to mask and painted the Hinomarus.

The engine detail comes from Eduard PE set

Flippin' marvellous Leo.

Inspiration is brilliant, it's probably the main reason I follow a forum. But resisting the temptation to go and buy everything I like, isn't so easy.

Tamiya are known for their thick decals, which is a shame really because the kits are great indeed. In any case, I think this is a nice rendition of a 0 And in only two months ey? Blimey, for me that's lightning speed :smiling6: Well done!

Cheers

Hi Leo
Love the used and abused look. All the extra work in detailing this has really paid off. I have just started a 1/48 Spitfire. I very much doubt it will end up as good as this or be completed as quickly but I live in hope :smiling: I must agree with Richard about the inspiring builds on SM - just got to resist buying too much!

Hi Leo
Love the tired finish on this one. Masking the meatballs has probably added to the effect so was worth the hassle.......

Leo,
What’s not to like about this! Lovely paintwork and a good idea showing off that nicely painted engine.
Well done :thumb2:

Hi Leo,
Not a wingy person but I recognise a great build when I see one, very nicely done. I have seen a lot of Japanese aircraft builds and they all show a very distressed finish. Did they have a problem with the quality of their paint or was it just lack of maintenance?

If I'm not mistaken it was a combo of paint which didn't have a great quality (something which the Germans had to deal with in the latter stages of the war as well) and the climate in the Pacific

Cheers Wouter, I thought it must have been something like that.

Beautiful. I built this in the 90s and also ditched the decals. It was my first super detailed engine done with extra sprue and wires. You've done very well.

Update:
I've managed to make a simple base for the plane and few figures, not the best result but better than just the plane I suppose.

Hi Leo, very nice build and paint job as well, either with or without the base. Personally I can't see nothing wrong with the figures, anyway very above my standards :tongue-out3:
