Thanks Greg and Stuart.

Gregory - Sorry, but it will be modelled shortly after the village has been liberated. So not much going on, besides I can't stand the sight of blood!
Stuart - Nice to have you along. Anything in the pipeline?

After looking at the base, I decided to finish off and fix the half timbered buildings around the village square area. This would give me a better feel for what I was trying to achieve, and hopefully give me fresh ideas. So the dingly dangly pavement will have to wait a bit longer!

I decided this one would be burnt out. The roof spars scorched, but still intact.
Here's the initial work on it.

Thanks for looking.

So how did you get the burnt look? Is it painted or did you actually singe the wood with a flame?

Hi Ron
That burned out building looks very realistic - excellent.
Is it just me or is the wall covering the bottom of the door?

Thanks boys.
Dave - It's just black paint.
Jim - It's an optical thingy. Take a look at yesterdays picture. This building slots in bottom left. There is actually a passage way between the burnt out building and the tall wall.

Thanks again for all the great comments.

Cheers boys......
The next bit is the damage to the two old buildings. Initially I wasn't going to damage these. In line with the story, the advancing Americans were trying to keep them intact and not damage the 'Booty', but I reasoned there were sure to be a few 'Overs', so I decided to add a small amount of damage to both.

Here is the first.
When I was making the windows out of thin plastic card, I made the large downstairs one too big and when I came to fix it, it bulged out - One bay window by mistake! The 'Glass' is thin clear plastic from a food container. The end elevation and roof has some damage and loads of broken glass due to the accidental mortar hit and general blast from explosions. I used very thin strips of paper for the roof battens and thin card for the slates. The ground floor damage was done by shoving my finger into the structure 'till summat broke!

The village square side.....

The same building from the stream side.

All a bit naked nude without any rubble, but that will be added later.

Thanks for looking.

Hi Ron
Looks absolutely superb. And all done with 'rubbish' and a poking finger. Vision and skill beats a deep wallet every time :smiling4:
