Just time to start my next project, a 1/9 bust of Blucher sculpted by Pavol Ovecka for Mitches Military Models. Blucher, of course, commanded the Prussian forces at the battles of Leipzig and Waterloo.

The piece comes in two parts:

All looking very nice (the same sculptor did the Kelly's Heroes busts I completed recently). Lots of lovely detail and a black uniform!

morning Peter
Never heard of the guy but sculpt looks good. As you say plenty of fiddly detail on the uniform.

Good old Blutcher...got into the thick of Waterloo just in the nick of time. Will watch this being painted, Peter. Looks like a nice sculpt.

Cheers,
Richard

Jim - Hi. It is a good sculpt, but I've only recently been able to get anywhere with this sculptor's work. He tends to cover his faces in very fine wrinkles, which are murder to get at. I've binned almost as many as I've managed to finish.

Richard - ''Raise high the black flags my children. No prisoners! No Pity! I will shoot any man I see with pity in him!'' Says is all really.

So after a mega session, I got the head to this state:

Pavol Ovecka really puts you through it - loads of detail to pick out, which is hard to blend in with the general skin tones. Blucher's hair is powdered, hence the difference between that and the facial hair.

Off Granddading for a few days now....

Hi Peter I don't know how you manage it the work around his eyes is just amazing you've got every line and wrinkle, it's very lifelike, keep up the excellent work, I think this one's going to be special.
Pete.

Morning Peter
Much empathy for your head, I have woken to an analgesic migraine!
Your Field Marshal Blucher's head is of professional portrait standard.
The blush on the cheeks, blending on the jaw line are superb.
The sculpt is excellent too, and your brushwork brings it all to life.
Very well done.
I was going to wish you all the best with the cameo style medal hanging over the Grand Cross, but with a packet of paracetamol, it going to be a small task to achieve.
Enjoy the "Grandading"
Better weather on the way for 24 hours!
I'm off to lay down in a dark room.
Regards
Steve H

Hi Peter
You may have had trouble with Pavol Ovecka sculpts before but this is absolutely superb. As good as it gets.
