Nothing looks nicer than crisply cut tissue decoration for models, but how do you go about getting neatly cut letters and registrations on your new pride and joy ? well here are the simple steps required, for this exercise you will need a self healing cutting board (most of s use one anyway,I think they were designed for model makers !) a few sheets of graph paper, some masking tape and a good razor blade plus a steel rule (or previously mentioned old hacksaw blade)-

1/ Onto your cutting board place a few pieces of tissue,on the top of this place a piece of ordinary graph paper.

2/ Tape the whole lot around the edges with masking tape so nothing will move.

3/ With a pencil mark out onto the graph paper the registration letters, you will find it easy to use the graph as a design guide and dont have to be a signwriter, cheat lines anything that your model calls for.

4/ With your new sharp razor blade and assisted with the rule carefully cut through the whole lot, pattern, tissue etc.

5/ This will give you a nice crisp set of markings to place onto your model, take a brush loaded with thinned clear dope and pick up each letter in turn by placing the brush onto the top of the tissue letters, carefully position onto the model and then simply push the dope through the surface of the tissue, capillery reaction and the porous surface will do the rest.

6/ Stand back and watch everything tighten up,give another coat of dope to finish and seal the edges.

Job done.
