Tim - I was beginning to think of brown, buff, khaki trousers to provide some contrast. As you say, with the white spats sticking out underneath it would provide an nice offset.

John - Thanks. I realised that I had been getting a bit dark with the lines, so have tried to lighten them.

Peter - Many thanks also. I've just painted the front of the tunic, but can't get decent photos with flash. I realised that the collar and facings should be dark green, so have painted them accordingly.

Another nice face. I've noticed that in your recent figures you have toned down the facial lines to a paler, warmer tone. I think this has done a lot to improve the final look. Very nice job
John

Morning Peter

John has hit the nail firmly on the head, pardon the pun,

Superb craggy weathered veteran's head, a masterful rendition Peter.

The "lollipop"head really does stand out too!

hopefully the head will settle back into scale when the uniform has been completed.

You only have to watch a Hollywood red carpet event to see plenty of "lollipop" heads, seems to be a job requirement for the big screen!

Alone with a size 0 body or a Marvel/DC super cut gym bunny look.

Getting "experienced" (old!!) has its benefits LOL

Today is the day for your journey into the white

Enjoy, I think it will, eventually, be a pleasant experience,

Regards

Hi Steve

I think this is one of Verlinden's best heads ironically, and it sort of painted itself (always a good sign). I don't mind the fact that it's too large - as I've said, I'm treating it as a caricature. Generally speaking, most people's heads are the same size, so smaller people seem to have bigger heads and vice-versa, though this is meant to be a strapping great grenadier.

I started on the white last PM:

Never a good thing to work under artificial light in my experience, but it went OK.

OK, the coat, and therefore most of the white is done:

The other problem with white is that it tends to glare when photographed, wiping out some of the shading (honestly). Anyway, I'm pleased with the way it's turned out.

I've tried to account for the fact that there will be shadow caused by the various bits of gear to be later attached to his back.

Well done, the white looks spot on.

Nice contrast with the emerald green.

Same again today with the trousers and its well on the way.

Looks like a good day for painting, cold, crisp and clear

Enjoy beating your nemesis

Morning Steve

Might not get anything done today as my wife's planning a trip to town -yippee!

As you say, good painting light, but it will be gone by 1.30pm. Darn this time of year (for a variety of reasons!). Off to my daughter's on Thursday to hold her hand while the baby has her MMR jab, so the two days left between then and now should be enough to get the grenadier finished.

The good news is, that neither of us could be bothered to go to town. So.....

I went for white trousers in the end, and they took ages. I haven't added any dirt yet - I want to enjoy the white for a while, and anyway, I haven't decided on the colours for the base yet. My first all-white uniform - relief mixed with a bit of elation the result.

Cheers Dave

I've just attached him to the base and done a bit of weathering. Too dark for photos.

Morning Peter

Don't think you have escaped the ""Shopping trip""

It will return and bite you hard in the A$$ LOL

Just smile and accept your fate, it will be better in the long run, and there might be Brownie points too,
if you play nicely!

Great trousers, Gromit LOL

Another first and really well done.

Have a good day weathering that white uniform, if the shopping trip doesn't sneak up on you from behind?

Regards
