Nearly there Steve and looking good, keep it together, or as my old buddy who enjoyed a bet would say.... "The favorite's got the whip out!"

I've started decalling. A big positive, the decals seem to be rather good...hooray!

It's just as well as I completely forgot that I meant to spray the black 'n' white stripes so I'll have to use the kit decals for them.

I'll add a piccy when they're on.

Cheers

Steve

Here you go.

Some of the decals are rather large, like the fuselage roundels and codes. I found it easier to cut them down and apply them in bits. I did the same for the stripes on the wings and fuselage. These I cut in half so I could apply left/right or top/bottom seperately.

The sharp eyed will notice that the stand has a label for a Spitfire Vb. That's because I've borrowed it from another of my models! I haven't made one for the Mk24 yet.

I can see the finishing tape now!

I've applied a bit of a wash, not too heavy as I don't think this machine would have been very dirty. I've then toned down the gloss coat and decals by spraying an unscientifically mixed coat of Klear/Matt varnish with a few drops of grey acrylic paint (actually Xtracrylix RLM02). I don't want it to be a matt finish and the decals and stripes were too white

I've also made the missing cannon barrel from some sprue and re-attached it.

Fingers crossed for canopy mask removal.

I'll do a little bit of chipping on the walkways etc.

Exhaust stains? My only reference for Griffon Spitfires is a late war aces book, obviously not Mk24s,but there is little evidence of any staining. I'm cogitating on this one.

I've even managed not to lose the pitot tube!!

Cheers

Here she is,one of the last of the 20,351.

I'll do some proper pics in a completed thread later.

Wouldn't have minded his job, even with the wonky fin!

Cheers

See! That looks the hounds hangy bits!

Now I really want one. I might chicken out and find a 1/48 scale one though as all the others I have are in that scale too.

PS like the stand.

And a big sigh of relief. I like the finish loads. Mine is matt but I think a slightly gloss finish is probably more accurate with a 'pampered' non war bird. Nice result.
