Hi Marcello I created the rust with mig pigments and chipping and worn effects, rust was applied first then sprayed the car with the main colour then slowly chipped away to revile the rust which gave me the result .good start Stuart. I like the rust effect so far, even if not yet completed. I also like the bumpy effect of the paint. How did you achieve that?
Wow thanks ken that’s really kind of you to say,I really appreciate itLooks superb mate, I doubt I could give you any tips you've definitely got a handle on this type of weathering.
Thank you Jim I really appreciate that
Hi Mike glad to have you on board and I look forward to seeing your builds, thank you for your kind feedback about my build it’s only my second barn find build so still learning myself.I used mig and ak interactive washes and chipping worn affects, and then use Vallejo med crackle. All rust washes and pigments from ak and mud effects ak and mig products hope this helps cheers StuHi Stewart,
I'm a further refugee from the MM forum. I'm a military model maker/ bodger........but have a few cars in the stash.........Tamiya Mini's (9) and having owned something like 40 odd over the years.... plus the Tamiya Subaru Impreza WRC'99.
Like the idea of the barn find.. found a few of my previous mini's in similar circumstances. ( bought a 1969 Morris Mini Cooper for my 65th birthday)
What I particularly love is your rust effects.......excellent. Please share how you have done it please.
Looking forward to seeing this progress.
May kick start me to have a go with a car.......
Cheers Mike
Thank you for your advice Ian will take a look see what I can doLooking good Stuart,
If it was me I'd add a little more rust colour to the arches where the white shows through the blue decals. and if your feeling very brave. using a small drill bit, drill some holes in some of the same places make it look like the wing has rotted through.
Appreciate your advice Simon thanks for the tipAnother way to make rust holes is scrape the plastic with a curved blade from the inside until the plastic is wafer thin, almost translucent
Then use a pointed blade to carefully stab random holes through the thin bits to create the doily effect of rusted edges
Thank you Jim, I really appreciate your kind feedbackHi Stuart
This gets better and better. Very realistic.
Jim
Took your advice and went back to them to hopefully make them more realistic and it sounds like it’s paid off, appreciate your feedback and advice IanGreat work on the arches Stuart they look fantastic rusted and beaten.
