First panel fitted and the cab sat on to see where it fits and where I can mount it as not content with making life hard with opening panels I also want a tilt cab.

The cab is all ready for paint as soon as I remember to mask the square hole behind the drivers door.

The scribblings on the screen are just there to see how much screen gets cleared as I will be putting some dust on the model when it's done, looking at a video of the truck going through large, muddy puddles a huge area of the screen gets cleared by the 3 wipers.

Looking great Andy.

I know the military version I built comes with the parts needed to display the cab tilted should you so wish, have they kept them in that kit?

No, the cab on this is meant to be fixed, but I am sure I can fix that....................eventually.

Another bit of test fitting on the truck bodywork.
52770739681_7e67423e31_b.jpg

Result? not good as I have got the angle wrong on the rear end so the side panels will not fit properly. I thought I had it right but fiddling about with it to get the rear door to open must have sent it a wee bit askew so a job for tomorrow.

Fixed the rear end and test fitted one side panel.

Looks OK to me so now I have to figure out the height of the top panel to install some supports so that when hinged the sides are in the right place. sometimes I ask myself why I did not build it out of the box, but too late now!
Also added a few decals on the cab, only the roof and one side for now so plenty decal work still to do.

Looking great Andy and I love the fact that you're modifying it too.
I thought it would be a good idea but now I am not so sure. But now I am committed, or maybe I should be committed,;) it will get done, if a bit slowly.

You probably thought I had either forgotten about this, or thrown it in the bin but now the Honda is done it's time to see if I can get my plan to work.

I think it is going to be a bit of test fit, test fit and more test fit to try and get the top in the right position so that the sides will hinge up properly. If built out of the box the top panel is glued to the sides so a new method is required to have the sides opening, sometimes I really doubt my sanity!

A lot of thought going into this. Glad it's still on the go. It's certainly looking the part.

Finally got back working on this model again after spending a lot of time out on the bike and the warm weather making the attic to hot to work in.
The rear door and one side panel hinged to open.

And closed.

Top view.

I know it looks slightly askew but the top is not fixed as I still have the other side panel to hinge.
I did make a stupid mistake when doing all this as in order to get the right height and position for the side panel I had it fixed in place with masking tape but like an idiot I left it on there for days and when taking the tape off I managed to take off a part of the Red Bull decal on the side.

I don't know if anyone has tried it but it is very hard to get a decal off masking tape without destroying it but with liberal amounts of Micro Set and a lot of patience I got it off with only a small amount of damage.
I carefully re-attatched it and with a bit of trimming and a dab of paint it will pass for OK in a bad light.

Watch this space for the next mistake.

Great save with the decal Andy. I didn't even know it was possible to remove it from tape as I've fallen for that one before.
